10 Advices on How to Stay Fit When Traveling

It’s difficult to stay fit when traveling. Especially if this travel for work, you have a busy schedule, you rush around from place to place, and you absolutely don’t have time for workouts. If you constantly eat and do exercises, you will keep fit and healthy all the time. But what can you do if you are on the move all the time? If you travel for pleasure, I’m sure, you also don’t have any time for fitness. That’s why I have 10 advices for you on how to stay fit when traveling:

1. Moving

It doesn’t matter whether you are on holiday or on a business trip, there’s is no reason to cut exercise out of your daily workout. 15 minutes walking every day an easy way of staying fit. Instead of taking the bus or a taxi walk everywhere or cycle where you can. You must know that most countries have a perfect cycle routes, throughout the year most European people cycle to and from work, the bar, everywhere. Find out where you can take a bicycle, some bicycles may be free to use.

2. Portion size

You know that every country has its portion size, so try to hold yourself back from overloading your plate. Even if you like the country’s cuisine, you should realize what you eat and what your portion size is.

3. Water

Water is an important part of keeping your healthy diet every day. If you want to be always hydrated and feel yourself energetic you should drink a plenty of water. If you spend a long time on airplanes and then in heated offices, very quickly your skin become dry. Carry a bottle of water with you everywhere, especially if you walking a lot.

4. Snacks

Another thing you should remember – don’t skip your meal! If you have a busy schedule, you always think you will stop somewhere along the way, but most of the time, it never happens. That’s why, if you know for sure that you are going to be on the move all day and don’t have time for eating, you should take with you a few snacks, fruit, nuts or a sandwich.

5. Pilates

If you regularly go in for Pilates, ask your trainer to work out a quick full body program, which you’ll be able to do anywhere. A good trainer will make a program for you that can be done in the hotel room, using a towel, a band and a few quick moves.

6. Gym

Booking your business or holiday accommodation, find out whether they have a gym on the premises. Nowadays many of the hotels have a spa and a fully equipped gym, so you’ll not have to go anywhere to workout.

7. Eat in

When you are travelling, it can be very difficult to choose the restaurant to eat in. If you’re on a business trip most of the time you’ll be somebody’s guest, and meal choices might be limited. That’s why try to eat at least one meal of the day that you prepare yourself. Buy some fresh production, fruits, and vegetables and prepare yourself a salad or a fruit salad.

8. Stay committed

If you are on long trip away from your home, stay focused and committed to staying fit. Don’t forget about workouts, try and perform a steady maintenance work out for keeping fit. Remember what you’ve done at home for staying fit. Take the stairs, avoid the lift, walk more instead of taking a bus or taxi. If you are committed, you will find it easier to maintain your focus.

9. Healthy meals

When we travel to foreign countries, it can be easy for us to get used to the cheap, fast food habit. You probably know that good, healthy food always costs more, that’s why you should make your budget to be able to buy a healthy food. No matter where you’re, healthy diet will help you to stay fit all the time.

10. Preplan

You should preplan your meals and time for workout in a way as you plan your travel schedule, your business meetings and what you are going to wear. In the days when you exercise, you might eat better, and if you don’t have the time you are not committed, you should make this time.

It is normal for everyone to skip some workouts when traveling. It can be replaced by different time zones, good company, business meetings and lots of socializing. When you travel, you may not have your own kitchen or even a fridge, but if you want to stay fit, you should eat healthier.
