1. Enjoy a city sightseeing tour
Even though it’ll never be as great as visiting all the attractions of Milan, a city sightseeing tour is one of the best ways to see all of the main sights. Just in a few hours you will see a lot of fabulous places and learn the facts and you don’t even have to move. Moreover, you can leave the tour at any particular place and rejoin again later according to your own wish.
2. Visit the Duomo
One of the biggest gothic Cathedrals in the world, the Duomo is one of the best places to visit in Milan. The building stretches for 320+ in width and 520+ feet in length and the tallest spire is over 300 feet high. Façades are covered by lush Gothic ornaments. Be sure to take a walk through the forest of spires and statues on the cathedral roof.
3. Visit La Scala Opera House
One of the most important cultural and historical attractions of Milan, La Scala has hosted the greatest composers, singers and operas since the end of the 18th century. If you cannot stand opera, the museum next door hosts a wonderful exhibition.
4. Visit Piazza Mercanti
There are many squares and piazzas in Milan. Sforza Castle is located in the heart of Milan and it’s one of the sights you must not miss. Built in the 14th century it has been modified throughout the ages. You can enjoy the architectural features of the big round towers, the defensive walls and a rounded clock, and head into one of the most impressive museums of the city – the Museum of Ancient Art.
6. Shop in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
The oldest shopping mall in Italy, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is stunning glass-domed covered arcade with the walls which are elaborately painted. Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is full of charming boutiques, luxury stores and elegant restaurants. From Moschino to McDonalds, you will find everything here. 7. Walk along the canals of Navigli
When we think about Italy and canals, Venice is the first city that comes to mind, right? However, Milan has a small network of canals as well. The area of Navigli is one of the most peaceful parts of Milan. One of the canals was designed by Leonardo da Vinci and there are many boat trips in the summer time. The banks are lined with stores, restaurants and small cafes. Navigli has an amazing atmosphere daytime and evening as well!
8. Watch football at San Siro
Everybody knows about the rivalry between two soccer clubs of Milan and even non-football fans can’t deny watching football at the San Siro Stadium. Both Milan teams AC Milan and Internazionale (Inter) share the 80,000 capacity stadium. If I went to Milan, I would definitely watch a football at San Siro!
